At Abel Womack, our Leadership is committed to providing extensive training to our team members in order to help us best serve our clients as subject matter experts. I recently had the opportunity to attend my first week of DART training out of a total of three weeks, which was an exceptional opportunity to learn from the best and reach the next level of expertise in my role.
For anyone interested in joining Abel Womack’s team of material handling experts or customers intrigued by what we learn at this Raymond training, these were some of my main DART training takeaways:
What is DART Training?
DART training is a part of the onboarding process for salespeople at Abel Womack. While this traditionally takes place during an employee’s first few months at the company, mine was delayed due to COVID-19. DART training provides us with the expertise to focus not on selling to our customers but on understanding the details about a company’s needs and working with clients to problem solve their pain points.
What Does DART Training Entail?
DART training contains a significant amount of information, both on PowerPoint and firsthand experience. In Dart, we learn how to correctly measure racking systems, properly utilize space and flow, develop an engineering mentality, and give someone the best use of their footprint. This elite training opportunity provides a broader outlook so our sales team can better help the customers’ operations over the long term.
What Did I Learn from DART Training?
Abel Womack and Raymond Corporation are committed to the engineering of forklift trucks, a component that was really brought to life for me throughout the week. I can now better put to use the knowledge of each truck type and configurations to find the best solutions to my customers’ situations. Given the fact Raymond has trucks to meet just about every warehouse need, that results in a detailed analysis for each situation. While forklifts are the primary product, there are many other Raymond intralogistics solutions, making us a one-stop shop to better and more seamlessly serve our customers.
In the warehouse facility at the training, we could model everything we were evaluating, better understanding the history behind Raymond and its role in serving customers and gaining perspective from seasoned professional from across the country.
How Does This Training Prepare Me to Serve My Customers?
Now I am looking at the broader picture of issues instead of a more myopic view I may have had previously. This training is helping me ask the right questions to obtain the bigger picture of how to solve problems for each client. I also received further education about new things happening in the industry, as technology, AI, and supply chain requirements change daily-so I can be a consultant to help my clients navigate the whitewater.
