Maker of damage-prevention equipment for retail now does the same for warehouses and distribution centers. After a quarter-century of designing damage prevention equipment for retail environments such as supermarkets, McCue Corp. has turned its sights to protecting assets from damage in warehouses and distribution centers. Peabody, Mass.-based McCue unveiled its line of five damage prevention products for the industrial and distribution center space at last year’s Modex show in Atlanta. At ProMat 2015 in Chicago, McCue showcased its wares in the hope of landing major U.S. accounts that will see the value in equipment that protects racks, walls, columns, employees, and thousands of dollars in merchandise from the destructive impact of collisions with formidable moving objects such as five-ton forklifts. David McCue, McCue’s founder and chairman, said his components—composed of high-grade steel encased in what looks like basic plastic exteriors—are designed to absorb, or give, when they come in contact with moving objects. They are also designed to deflect glancing blows from moving equipment, thus redirecting equipment away from racks and merchandise, McCue said. McCue said the company’s ordinary-looking yellow plastic pole consists of 28 components "engineered to stop a forklift in its tracks—preventing thousands of dollars in damage."
